OWAA Board Statement
OWAA’s Board has great respect, appreciation and
gratitude for those corporations, agencies and organizations that support OWAA.
We wish to preserve and enhance the close working relationship between our
active members and those traditionally called ‘supporting members.’ We wish to
preserve the integrity and spirit of the current relationship. The Board also
wishes to eliminate the misperception that any affiliation or contact between
our active members and any advocacy group represents an endorsement of the
group’s positions by OWAA or by OWAA active members. “OWAA’s Board intends to
recognize supporting groups, agencies and businesses in an appropriate manner in
the Directory, Outdoors Unlimited and other OWAA listings. The Board also
intends to institute a new business relationship that will be mutually
beneficial to OWAA and supporting groups, agencies and businesses. The Board
hopes that this proposal will spark a frank and constructive discussion.

Contest Sponsor
Norm Strung Youth Writing Contest,
Partnered sponsorships,

To encourage students to sharpen their abilities to communicate the outdoor
experience, annual cash awards are offered as part of the OWAA Norm Strung Youth
Writing Contest. The contest features separate categories for poetry and prose.
Cash awards and certificates are granted in both categories and in two different
divisions, senior (grades 9-12) and junior (grades 6-8). 100 percent of cash
awards are passed on to budding outdoors communicators. Six $300 sponsorships
are available for 2008.
