Since Smith mentioned this potential contest in the December issue of Outdoors Unlimited, any member who signed up a candidate who then became a new member from December 1 on will be eligible. NOTE: For the purpose of this contest the Membership Recruitment Committee defines a new member as an individual and not a supporting group, business or agency. Editors wanted for Meet the Editors event!At the One-on-One with Editors event at OWAA’s conference, attendees meet with acquisitions editors of outdoors magazines and book publishers to discuss their editorial needs. A must-attend conference event for members building their careers, this also is a great opportunity for editors to pick up new contributors for their publications. This year’s event takes place Saturday, June 21, from 1-4 p.m., in Bismarck, N.D. If you're an acquisitions editor and would like to participate, please contact krhoades@owaa.org or 406-728-7434. Urban bowhunting – what’s your view?In last month’s Outdoors Unlimited, President Rich Patterson tells the story of urging the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, City Council to manage the city’s burgeoning deer herd via controlled hunting. Ultimately, Cedar Rapids approved bowhunting, and three successful seasons have passed. More recently, OWAA member Bill Schneider in his New West column advocates letting bowhunters solve the urban deer problem in Montana’s Capitol, Helena.
