Free Workshop to Convene in Bismarck
The Bismarck conference will kick off with the fourth annual, free, half-day workshop, “Becoming an Outdoor Communicator,” on Saturday, June 21, from 8 a.m.-noon, at the Ramkota Hotel, OWAA’s headquarters for the 81st annual conference.
Workshop subjects will include the following:
- Opportunities in Newspapers
- Outdoor Photography
- Being an Outdoor Generalist
- Working with State and Federal Agencies
- Outdoor Radio Shows
- Women in the Hook and Bullet World
- Working with Magazines Outdoor
- Books for Fun and Profit
- Outdoors, Politics and the World
- Outdoor Opportunities in Television
- Questions and Answers
- OWAA and the Outdoor Communicator
Workshop presenters will include Mark Taylor, Mark Freeman, Judd Cooney, Lisa Densmore, Chris Madson, Tony Dean, Susan Ebert, Jay Cassell, Tom Huggler, Christina Larson, Mark Sosin, Kevin Rhoades and Pat Wray.
No experience is necessary! We all started with just interest and desire. Plenty of time will be allowed for questions and answers. Participants are welcome to attend the members-only conference as guests.

Conference writers wanted!
Headquarters needs volunteers to write brief summaries of several panels, newsmakers and workshops at this year’s conference in Bismarck, N.D. Writers should focus on key points of the conference session and submit 300-500-word reviews for publication on OWAA’s Web site, in the Tech-E-Letter or in Outdoors Unlimited.
