May 3, 2007 For more information contact: Outdoor Writers Association of America Announces 2007 John Madson Fellowship RecipientsMissoula, Mont. – Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) has selected Ben Moyer and Megan Parker as co-recipients of the 2007 OWAA John Madson Fellowship. The fellowship is an annual grant program that funds continuing education opportunities for OWAA members. Each award recipient will be awarded approximately $1,150 for reimbursable expenses for attending OWAA’s annual conference, the Wildbranch Writing Workshop, college courses or professional seminars – virtually any opportunity to enhance communications skills. Ben Moyer is a book author, freelance writer, outdoors columnist for the Pittsburgh (Pa.) Post-Gazette and columnist for Pennsylvania Outdoor Times and Pennsylvania Game News. He lives in Farmington, Pa., and has been an OWAA member since 1986. Megan Parker joined OWAA in 2006. She is regional editor for The Country Today newspaper and covers agriculture in west-central Wisconsin and outdoor issues throughout the state, including weekly stories or columns on recreation, hunting, fishing and outdoors news. Parker lives in Eau Claire, Wis. OWAA’s John Madson Fellowship is funded through the John Madson Fellowship Fund, an endowment that thrives primarily through OWAA member contributions and fundraising efforts. The fellowship program is designed to honor the legacy of John Madson, one of OWAA’s most talented, respected and honored legends. The 1,600-member Outdoor Writers Association of America is the oldest and largest association of professional outdoor communicators in the United States.
