airport do I fly into?
Either Lake Charles (Continental Airlines
commuter flight only) or Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. The
Houston airport code is IAH. How far is Lake Charles from New
Orleans?
It is 3.5 hours west of New Orleans. How
far is Lake Charles from Houston?
It is 2.5 hours due east and a very easy drive.
Can I rent a car in Houston, drive to Lake Charles airport, drop off and
pick up again for my drive back to Houston?
That can be done, but there is a one-way drop-off
fee. For example, a full-sized car picked up in Houston and dropped off
in Lake Charles a couple of hours later would cost approx. $120. Avis is
$65.99 for a full-sized car. Most of the rental companies’ fees are
within a few dollars of each other. Back

No, it does not. How far is it to L’Auberge from
Lake Charles airport?
It is approximately 15 minutes. Do I have to pay
for my spouse to come to the conference?
Spouses have to pay the registration fee only if they
attend official conference functions – meals, hospitality suites,
Breakout Day, The Shooting Program, workshops. If they are coming to
Lake Charles and will not be participating in any conference activities,

L’Auberge du Lac?
The deadline to make L’Auberge du Lac reservations in
OWAA’s room block is May 15. The closest hotel is approximately 10
minutes away. In the immediate area are America’s Best Suites, Lakeview Hotel, Microtel LC, Sleep Inn and Super 8 LC (see
below). Call or go to
www.visitlakecharles.org and click on “accommodations.” Members are
encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible if they are not
staying at L’Auberge du Lac as limited rooms are available.

Which night will the Excellence in Craft awards be presented?
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday
evening.
Which night will other awards (i.e., Jade of Chiefs, Jackie
Pfeiffer Memorial, etc.) be presented? Other
awards will be presented Tuesday evening. Will there be a golf
tournament this year?
We need someone to help Dan Small coordinate
this event. If we find coordinators, the golf tournament will be
held on Friday, June 16. The local committee is trying to help with
all the details on this. As of this point, we don't have a golf

What should I wear?
Casual (shorts, jeans, slacks) clothes to all
functions except Sunday and Tuesday award ceremonies. Sunday and
Tuesday award dinners – dress pants (khakis are fine), dress shirt,
tie and sports jacket are optional.
Are there any airline discounts?
Yes, we have arranged airline discounts with
Continental. Continental Airlines offers discounts off published
fares of 2% to 15% or zone fares. Call your travel professional or
Continental MeetingWorks at 800-468-7022 for reservations. Outside
of the United States, please call your local Continental Airlines
Reservation Office. Refer to Z Code ZSVQ and Agreement Code: VKDKS5.
Save an additional 3% off by booking your own reservations at

Are there spouse activities?
A spouse welcome party will take place on
Saturday, and spouse tours will be available on Monday and Tuesday.
A room will be reserved for spouses who wish to meet.
Can I bring my children?
Yes, but children under 18 are not allowed to
attend any conference functions.
